About Shri Moreshwar Temple
Shri Mayureshwar Temple, dedicated to Lord Ganesha, is located in Morgaon, Pune, and is the foremost temple in the Ashtavinayak pilgrimage circuit. It holds great significance as the spiritual center of the Ganapatya sect, which considers Ganesha the Supreme Being. The temple is associated with the legend of Ganesha defeating the demon Sindhura and is praised extensively in the Mudgala and Ganesha Puranas. It is considered timeless, with no beginning or end, and holds holiness comparable to Kashi. The pilgrimage to the Ashtavinayak circuit is incomplete without ending at this temple.
